Introduction to the program
Welcome to the Facilitator's Kit. Here, you will find everything you need to lead our Peace Education program. The program is designed to cultivate a deep understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict among high school students age fourteen and up. The workshops in this program help to dispel popular misconceptions and stereotypes about the conflict and introduce facts from sources on both sides.
For a successful implementation of our program, we recommend that you use the international edition of the Windows Youth Magazine. The magazine was written by Palestinian and Israeli youth who have participated in Windows' Young Journalists Group.
The magazine and the Kit present the historical background of the conflict as well as the situation today. We created the international version of the magazine in order to share the experience and knowledge Windows youth gained while writing the magazine with young people abroad. Given that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict attracts much global attention, we seek to share non-biased knowledge about it. We are especially interested in raising awareness of the conflict among future European leaders, since Europe has an important historical connection to the conflict. We hope that you can successfully include Windows' tools in your teaching to bring the Israeli-Palestinian conflict closer to your students.
The Peace Education program is suitable for students of different national, religious and social backgrounds. The program can also be adapted to connect with a conflict present in the students' community, making it a useful tool for learning how to lead a healthy debate surrounding various issues.
